Does anyone remember the Quarry on Sky Edge?

does anyone remember the quarry on skye edge where the playing fields are now, ? when where they opened? how deep where they? any pictures? and what about the scrap yard that was once piggy westons? do you remember?????????

Scrap Yard

 

I used to visit the scrap yard on Skye Edge, with my father, it was a tremendous place to go to, The owner Eric, would let me rummage about for interesting items, or play with the piglets, I can remember a young kid trying to cross the huge patch of crusted pig slurry behind the yard, and sinking in up to his waist my father pulled him out, but what a stink!!! The yard was a brick yard first, then pigs, and after that scrap, before compulsory purchase by the council. My father once saw the ghost of a man, dressed in brown trousers, with gaiters, coat, flat cap, and muffler, stood at the gates of the yard, he told Eric of this incident,

And was informed, that this man had been crushed by a lorry years earlier, and had been seen on numerous occasions leaning on the gate post!

thanks for that mate ,,used to be my haunt (exuse the pun) also thats why i wondered if anyone remembered anything from that era,, the tunnel near the pig stye, the quarry ect ect......
