Hi Arthur. I agree it was a beautiful church. When I was at that school (64 - 70) we celebrated the church centenary. I would have thought it would have been cheaper to repair it than demolish it and replace it with the new one. That one never seemed the same. Hi , I don't suppose you know this, but it was nearly demolished by Hitler in the blitz the next morning there was a great hole between the pavement and the wall just below the main gates thebomb squad were just coming to rope the area off they said it was a land mine that may explode SO SCARPER we did'nt need telling twice we later saw it pulled out , it was enormous. Just had a message which reminded me about the headmaster Mr Hall, from when I was there. Does anyone remember any of the teachers at the school? The only one I can think of is Mrs Manning. The only one I can think of is Mrs Manning.Hi I recall mrs Manning being there mr Hall taught me from 1934-7 for arts and crafts, I was top of his class, and had a lino cut exibited in the Graves Art Gallery for the schools of sheffield 1936 entry which mr Hall entered He sent a note to my parents to allow him to get a place for me at the Sheffeild Tech but they declined , I lived at 23 Earldom st at that time, in later yrs on sedan st 1957 and took my son Micheal to see Mr Hall who then taught him, was Gillotts bakery still there when you lived at the bot; of Lyons st the son Colin was in my class I believe he committed suicide at 21 yrs old he was a pal of mine at school Cheers Arthur. Hi, Arthur. yes, Gillotts was there when I lived there.The smell was lovely and it seemed especially good on cold mornings going to school. PLAIN TALKER - thanks for the pics, the inside of the church brought back a few memories, especially cold school assemblies and harvest festival where the whole school had to provide something towards it.
