Saffron Club Indian restaurant - it wasn't a good experience.

Recommended Posts

I first went to Saffron club about a year ago and have never looked back. I have had nothing but fantastic food, wine and service. All prices are reasonable (on both eat in and take away food). I am an avid curry lover and would go as far as saying that Saffron club have provided me with some of the best currys I have ever had.

As for not asking about the fish, I believe that this was almost entirely the customers fault. Surely if you know there are certain types of fish that you do not like (especially one that is served as frequently as salmon) then you would ask to rule out the possibility of being served something you do not like.

Also, the manager/owner(?) has been consistently welcoming and polite so I find it difficult to imagine him reacting in such a manor without being provoked.

I would encourage everyone to sample saffrons delights for themselves.

They should have paid the bill and left with less fuss. But To be honest They should print what fish is used on the menu and comunicate complaints better in the kitchen.

That mess doe nt supprise me, as i have had a dreadful exprience in the saffron. The waiter staff where poor.

Wrong order no appology.... what was weird we where asked 4 time by different waiters each time i explained that the order was wrong , but said we we carry on as it was late. the kept poping over to ask and not in a friendly way just, bored and confused.

It was late and it was clear we had been drinking.. I imagine they thought we were puddled and where just checking we were going to pay.. not bothered if we were happy or not. just intrested in our cash.

 Meggy Meggy Meggy! GO and pay!!!

I dont think someone "proffesional" would ever think of leaving!

Let alone leave!

A service is a service...

Good or Bad a Service is a "SERVICE"...

KICKING up a fuss was inappropriate...I really feel for the restaurant...they accomadated you, provided you with food and drink, moreover attempted to satisfy your needs for a "good night out"...Yet you blame the manager for your mistake, the restaurant as a whole for your ignorance and the majority of this message board for seeing sense. Come on...choppy chop...it looks to me as though u were looking for the slightest reason "to not pay"...This makes people with a legitimate complaint look fake.

Anyone half decent would of payed, and expressed their concern, but by not paying, you proved your cruel intention! :suspect:

ANYWAY! Im over this one...This is boring me...

Has anyone been to Cipolla (Broomhall) Its a traditional Italian rest...Sounds TASTY!:hihi:

Hmmm, sounds to me like you might be associated with the rsetaurant in question. Only a few posts and most of them on this thread :suspect:

Anyway, I think Meggy is in the right. Whether the food was acceptable or not, the attitude of the staff certainly wasn't. When you eat in a restaurant you are paying for the food and the service. If either isn't up to scratch then you've grounds for complaint.

I think you are totally out of order on thisI agree if the owner was rude then if course you have a right to make your feelings known. I have a suspicion having dealt with people like you in my career as a police officer you expected that the salmon would not be paid for and that caused offence, especially as they had already offered you a replacement.

:loopy:what a crock. just looked at your other posts. If you are/were a bobby then you must be very unique especially as you claim to run a gay porn site as well. :loopy:

I went to the Saffron Club last night and I enjoyed it. I wouldn't say it is any better then anywhere else in Sheffield at doing the 'Modern Indian Cuisine' thing.

I certainly didn't experience anything like the service that has been mentioned on this thread.

.....but the point is that the restaurant did nothing wrong and it was the punters fault that they didn't enjoy the meal. So why should the restaurant stump up for their mistake.

Apart from coming over and arguing about it, shouting at the customer, making an assumption that they wouldn't be paying and generally behaving in an inappropriate fashion. Other than that, nothing wrong.

I'm not suspicious by nature, but two new users have joined and posted on this thread to say how good the safron club is... (And one of them keeps using vile font colours). It will be interesting to see if they post on anything else, or if their interest is purely in improving the reputation of the restaurant.

The OP stated that she was intending to pay for the dish, which she admits was a mistake to order without checking.

At that point she's done nothing wrong. The manager or owner comes out and starts shouting at her, I think he's lucky he didn't end up wearing the curry. What a stupid way to react to a complaint, especially as at that point they were still intending to pay for it.

I'm definitely avoiding this place then, although to be fair I hadn't heard of it and probably wouldn't have gone anyway as I don't go that way if I can help it. That Manager sounds horrible:loopy:. I realise it's hearsay on here, but I'll stick with The Zeenat where the service is always exemplary:thumbsup:. I tried one in Burngreave (I'll leave names out of it, as not appropriate) and the waiters had their heads to the floor the whole time:suspect:, you could not get their attention at all - in fact you had to get up and go over to them at the bar.:nono:.

Sorry to hear of your experience Meggy, but yes, agree you should have asked what type of fish it was - but I realise that's not your 'beef' (lol) here.

We went to this restaurant for my boyfriend's birthday, and it was wonderful!

Food was excellent, nice decor and pleasant staff. The staff even explained the different kinds of curry, and offered to do them to our tastes.

Would definitely go again! Definitely never saw any rude management - even if the OP's report is accurate, it did happen over a year ago, so the restaurant may well have changed since then
