With this living legend going head to head with new electro house man Chris Lake, this should be a Friday night rave off like no other… Pete Tong is always ahead of the pack when it comes to new electronic music. Through his Essential Selection Friday nights on Radio 1 he serves up a hot dish of great new dance music and killer classics aimed straight at the blood, sweat and guts of the dancefloor. Immortalised in the clubland satire, ‘Its all gone Pete Tong,’ he’s a top presenter, resident at Pacha (amongst numerous other venues across the world) and a champion of new beats on his exhilarating Tongcasts. Always the first on any new trend, expect the Live room to be thrown wide open to techno, chunky house, electro and anything else that takes the man’s fancy… Joining Mr Tong in laying waste to this Friday night Essential Session will be new boy on the dance music block, Chris Lake. Described as ‘The best thing to come out of Scotland since Mylo’ by our other guest, this label is a suitable accolade for one of the hottest producers and DJs to emerge over the last year. Initially cutting his remixing teeth on the likes of Stretch and Vern and Quivver it’s his own productions that has really got the dance music fraternity frothing at the mouth. ‘One Too Many’ and ‘Changes’ are the real bombs in his tune armory with the Dirty South remix of the latter release doing some proper damage in the clubs… Having begun to play nights across the globe, he’s also established his own label Rising Music. This imprint should be unleashing his huge remix of Lifelike and Kris Menace collaboration ‘Discopolis,’ a truly monstrous house anthem that can’t find a venue big enough to tame it… The recent compilation ‘Electric Boutique’ showcases the style of tunes Chris will be dropping. We went to see him at Plug when it first opened and he was ace and always listen to him on a Friday night when I'm getting ready to go out.....looking forward to it.
