kittenta
Personally I use DMC, not sure why, suppose it's what I started with! Does anyone use the cheaper brands?

Guest
DMC or Anchor where ever six-stranded cottons are used. They might be more expensive, but the cheaper brands are definitely not as good; they're not as lustrous and have a greater tendency to tangle and go fuzzy. Some of the stronger colours might even be prone to running in water (or when using a steam iron), and they might not have the same fade-resistant properties as DMC or Anchor six-stranded cotton. DMC and Anchor also have a greater range of shades.
kittenta
Finding a good price for them is difficult though! They are 65p down hillsborough for one
Guest
I'd sooner pay a bit more and not risk the cottons running/fading/getting fuzzy. Plus they look a lot better on the finished item. Both DMC and Anchor six-stranded cotton are 45p at Sew Discounted.
