Newsreader Fiona Bruce not forced to remove her Crucifix/ chain.

Recommended Posts

So we have Jack Straw being lambasted because he can't hear & help his constituents who hide behind medievil garbs.

Now, on the other side of the coin Fiona Bruce has been forced to remove her gold Crucifix & chain in case it upsets the muslims.

Is Christianity becoming illegal in this country?

Millions of women across Britain wear this small and insignificant piece of jewellery. But yesterday, in yet another example of PC gone mad, a necklace worn by TV newsreader Fiona Bruce sparked a row among BBC bosses.

The piece of jewellery in question was a small cross on a necklace, which the presenter recently wore while presenting the Ten O'Clock News.

She has worn it for some years, in fact, but now some at the BBC want to ban her from wearing the accessory, with a former policy-maker at the organisation describing it as "a potential mistake" that might suggest some kind of religious affiliation.

The BBC was debating whether a female Muslim newsreader should be allowed to wear a headscarf while reading the news when the issue over Ms Bruce's cross was brought up.

This is absolutely ridiculous. Ok, maybe the BBC wouldn't want a woman weaing a headscarf while reading the news, but this is for appearance reasons, not cultural reasons.

If an islamic woman read the news with an islamic pendant around her neck, no one would mind.

Petty, petty, petty.

Maybe the BBC should spend their time discussing why 75% of their output is garbage.

Now! Now! DonK.

"It is understood, however, that Ms Bruce has not been asked to remove the necklace, and that the BBC does not have any official guidelines on the wearing of religious symbols. "

I find the fact that it has even been discussed by the BBC is a crock of ****.

Stop fishing, DK. She hasn't been forced to do anything of the sort.

No.

Good old Daily Mail. Never let the facts get in the way of a story  .

The following quote also appears in the piece from the Daily (hate)Mail - ''It is understood, however, that Ms Bruce has not been asked to remove the necklace, and that the BBC does not have any official guidelines on the wearing of religious symbol''

Bit of a non-story really.

"in yet another example of PC gone mad"

This line makes me want to gouge my eyeballs out with rusty spoons.

The whole piece reads like a Daily Mail collage of made-up stories from the past ten years. It ticks most of the boxes: badly written, hatred of women, fear of otherness, the insidious leftie leanings of the BBC, political correctness, middle class paranoia...

The only thing that's missing is a conspiracy theory about Diana and details of house prices in the South-West.
