Macca
Hi guys, I have a Spanish lodger staying with me at the minute, and she's trying to sort out a way to pay her rent to me. Now, it's cheaper for her mum to pay the rent from Spain, as there are less charges associated. However, she spoke to her mum last night, and was told that the Spanish bank are requesting some kind of number, called an Ivan or possibly even Iban number (V and B sounding similar in Spanish). Now, I know I'll have to approach my bank dorectly to get hold of this number - but as I've never heard of it before, I wondered if one of the bankers amongst you could enlighten me as to what, exactly, I'm asking for. Thanks in advance. N
cgksheff
It is the IBAN (International Bank Account Number) 'Number'. Your bank will give it to you and it is made up of a country code, bank sort code and the account number.

medusa
When my ex-husband was setting up things so that he could send me money to sort out his debts, he needed both the IBAN and the other number listed on my bank statements with my account number (can't remember what that one's called though). If you have a bank statement then it shouldn't be a problem, and transfers are now a whold load easier and faster than they used to be within the EU. It only takes 3-5 working days now for the funds to clear the account.
