Sultana
You could try swilling some whisky or Southern Comfort around over the offending tooth, it might just numb it a bit. Ibuprofen is good too, but be careful if you've already taken paracetamol or whatever. You can buy stuff for mouth ulcers that numbs too. Basically, you have to wait for the nerve to shrink away from the filling (I think). Try heat - that might be soothing, warm a cushion, or if you have one of those bran bags. Hope it soon eases. Anbesol - that's the badger!
charlie9865
clove oil but use with cotton bud and avoid contact with skin as it can burn. it is wicked pain relief and can be bought from boots. Although it smells.

kittencapes
Ok thanks for the advice, I look a bit silly at work holding a cup of tea next to my cheek, never mind!
spicey
If you have any cloves in your cupboard, just pop one in your mouth as close to the tooth as you can. If you find it strong, don't suck on it, just leave it in your mouth.
