At around 10pm going in the direction from Pizza Hut to Wednesday ground, it was down to single file traffic, and police were stopping cars to talk to them. A van with a camera was also there. Anyone know whats happened? Operation IMPACT - a series of high visibility Police Operations to target crime. Random checking of vehicle ownership, vehicle tax, vehicle MOT, vehicle insurance, vehicle safety, illegal number plates, wanted persons, stolen goods, illegal drugs and illegal weapons. Unregistered
.... im just thankful I was going the other way hehe No escape - Roadside Cameras are being / have been installed that can read car number plates and are able to automatically check Car Tax, MOT and Car Insurance, once all such records have been computerised. wizard123
It was nothing to do with Impact, more likely it was in relation to the RTC a couple of weeks ago at that time with the boy on the pedal cycle. Trying to find witnesses.............
Unregistered
No, it was Operation Impact - the presence of an ANPR system would indicate this. That's correct - On average, Police have seized 12 vehicles a day during the current phase of IMPACT. ''You often find those with no insurance have no licence or MOT. These drivers are a menace to the public as well as themselves." South Yorkshire Police.

I have seen these APNR cameras on Traffic Cops (I think Cheshire police have them). They are really quite scary as you could be just a day late with your car tax and they could nab you for it. pippadoll
Be really careful when ordering your car tax on line. I ordered mine and paid for it about a week in advance. It didn't arrive; had the receipt in the car. When I phoned to ask what had happened I was informed that it had been sent and it was my problem; I was not to drive the car as I would be driving illegally. I will go back to using adn supporting the post office adn hopefully sustaining community business. Maybe we need to think twice about internet purchasing as it really does mean cost cutting and job losses.
raskel
I bought my car tax online and it came within 3 days, was very pleased. Saved the queue at the post office.
