Seriously though if getting hit doesn't bother you Dinger, then kickboxing is a good one.

Lee Mapley
any sport that will get me fit and if i could learn a self defence at the same ime that would be good If you want to learn striking, check out Chiefkickers Kickboxing club. I've not been, but I've heard good things. If you like grappling have a look at Gracie Barra (where I go). It's submission grappling made famous by the Gracie familiy in the UFC. It's a lot of fun, very friendly people & good teaching. 393 Club, Langset Road, Hillsborough, Mon - 6pm-8pm Wed - 6pm-8pm Sun - 11am-1pm

When it comes to ground fighting, Brazilian Ju Jitsu is the way PERIOD! I have a few good friends who practise Brazilian Ju Jitsu (lankymanBJJ and BJJmonkey in particular) and they are brilliant! They roll about like snakes and I'd hate to get into a fight to the death with them in a swamp, it would be like trying to fight a crocodile! Then again as far as endorsing AFK (my club) , both of the aforementioned guys actively train their striking game at AFK themselves. You'd be surprised at how quick they learned their punching and kicking as well. Fitness-wise, come and see how much weight some people have lost from training at AFK. Examples : One girl went down from 83kg to 70kg within 3 months. One guy was 130kg he is now down to 123kg, within something like 6 weeks. Another guy was 89kg,... within a few months he was down to 80kg. There you go, AFK has it when it comes to self defense or even fitness! No im no biased Get yourself down , just like the NIKE symbol , JUST DO IT!!! MONDAY 830-930PM THURSDAY 830-930PM SEE YOU THERE!!!!!!

I have a Kung Fu background, but I'm trying to fight 'Authodox' (more like kickboxing). I got put on my arse last night by Herol 'Bomber' Graham, when he taught a class at our Combat Jujitsu club. He just took the **** really. My kicking also. I just can't get down past the last 6 inches in a side split. I've been at it 5 months. But generally my kicks are okay and my flexablity is much improved.
