Another Leppings Lane Roundabout Moron!!

Once again, crossing the roundabout from Leppings Lane to Herries Road, I have to brake suddenly to avoid a collision with a moron who thinks the correct route across that roundabout is via the inside lane!!!

When are the council going to re-paint the road markings to give even the most brain-dead of the area's motorists a chance of getting it right?

COST OF PAINT FOR WHITE LINE £20

COST OF PAYING SOMEONE TO PAINT THE LINE £50

VALUE TO MY SANITY (AND SAFETY) PRICELESS

They need to set up lights on that junction, it's that simple.

Traffic lights would only result in traffic backing up onto the roundabout (as occasionally happens with the pedestrian crossing on Leppings Lane and frequently happens at the University roundabout) and lead to even more chaos and accidents.

Far too many drivers don't seem to appreciate that there are two lanes crossing the roundabout from Leppings Lane and plenty of room if they all chose the correct lane.

It's not rocket science, tho many it might as well be!!

The priorities can be changed to suit the time of day. In the mornings the vast majority of traffic is heading into town from Leppings Lane/Halifax Road. In the evenings the opposite is true.

Besides which the Council can't even be bothered to paint a simple white lien dividing the two lanes - can we seriously expect them to take the time to monitor traffic flows and correctly install lights?

The University and Ecclesall Road roundabouts are proof that this system does not work, especially during peak hours.

i used to live on leppings lane, and i must agree with you t-max teh traffic is really bad on there as it is, never mind puttin lights their aswell!

Somebody should do something soon about the roundabout, it is getting dangerous and something serious will happen soon.

Do you mean someone entered the roundabout using the left hand lane which is for left turners only, but decided to go straight across nearly forcing you to go round again?

Prats have done that to me often. Last thing I expect, on driving onto the roundabout is for some numpty to be to my left all the way across....I'd expect someone who enters alongside me to have turned up Halifax Rd.

I have had this but I think the OP is reffering to when you go straight across towards herries road you are supposed to stay on the left hand side of the roundabout but these morons go to the right hand side and then go towards herries road cutting you off in the process.

Not quite with you there.

When you enter the roundabout from Leppings Lane, there should be nobody beside you to cut off, unless some idiot has entered in the wrong lane, or driven on from Halifax Rd and who will now be on your left.

If leaving onto Herries Rd, and you are indicating your intentions, then there should not be anyone alongside you to the left. If there is, they've either entered in the wrong lane, or cut YOU up whilst coming off Halifax Rd.

Please clarify for me folks.

according to the road markings on leppings lane that are there, traffic for herries road should use the right hand lane. only traffic turning left should be in the left hand lane, so unless someone pulls out of halifax road to turn left, no-one should be on your left except those in the wrong lane.
