Furniture for the homeless

Recommended Posts

I am moving in with my boyfriend and have lots of excess furniture that i don't need as he has his own. Rather than throw it away i thought someone else could make use of it.

I don't want to make any money out of it as it was all given to me so is second hand.

Does anyone know of anywhere in sheffield that takes used furniture and recycles it for the homeless or other good cause?

Oh I know a place, ST Vincents on Queens Rd. They take stuff away for you and give it to people who have nothing.

They helped me out so much when I moved into a flat with 16 pairs of curtains, 2 carriage clocks and a crockery set. They gave me a sofa, a bed, a fridge, washing machine, wardrobe and a piece of carpet. It kept me going for ages until I could buy new stuff.

They are very worthy and I make a point of offering furniture to them when I can.

think the oxfam in broomhill used to sell used furniture

but they don't help homeless people, thay take your donation and sell it on at fairly high prices...

try NOMAD, the homelessness charity and advice centre, on 2738089 they run/ran a furniture store like St Vincents, called NOMAD NOMORE.
