Guest Pauly
For a while now I've had something running on my PC that I can't seem to find in the programs list or via AdAware. It's difficult to explain but I'll do my best. A random unidentified bar appears on the taskbar at the bottom of the screen every few minutes. It has no name, just a standard program icon, and when I'm in a game it's really annoying because it brings me out of the game and I have to hit alt-tab to get back to where I was. I lived with it for a while because it was only a minor annoyance but now I have a new game and when the bar pops up it closes my game no matter what I'm doing. Could it be some form of spyware that I've got or a virus perhaps? Has anyone got any ideas or experienced anything similar? Hope someone can help as it's driving me mad now. donky7
try ccleaner.... this removes spyware, if run regular...... other than that, you need to know the name, so you can search and remove....... does hovering the mouse over it not reveal its name....? its probably a cookie in yer temp folder that keeps allowing it to reopen... the ccleaner empties all the junk in 1... http://www.ccleaner.com/ free tooooooooooooooooo
Savannah2
CCleaner isn't a spyware remover, the main objective of CCleaner is to clean out your temporary internet folder and MRU list ect. Spyware removal tools have the ability to detect and remove files that spyware has added based on signature codes within those files. For an excellent review of CCleaner, have a look here
xircon
start->run->msconfig go to startup tab and disable anything you do not recognise or dont want and reboot. Also download sysinternals process explorer, file->save and post contents here - one of us should be able to spot the errant process.
