Strix
We've booked a couple of days in Kinross, but where shall we go next? Any suggestions? (and yes, fuzzy chops will be coming too )
surfinjim
Strix You can't go wrong with Edinburgh. I know it can be a bit touristy, well very, but there is a lot to see and some great night life. (Not all trendy clubbing by the way). If you want a fantastic B & B, try the Ravensdown, which is in Stockbridge near the Botanical gardens. You can walk (30 minutes) into the city centre from there, and its also a short taxi ride down to Leith. If you want more info, let me know. I've been to Edinburgh times recently and stayed at Ravensdown on 3 occasions in total. Cheers Jim:thumbsup:
Strix
I've looked at Ediburgh a couple of times, but have struggled for pet-friendly accomodation there Jim We're hoping to do some walking, a bit of sight seeing (historical houses are great, particularly if Brude can stretch his legs in the grounds ), and toasting in front of a pub fire to round off a hard day's beagling We usually travel by train, but we're taking the beagle bus this time round
surfinjim
My mistake, missed the Fuzzy chops reference! Have you thought about dropping down the coast to say Berwick or Alnwick? Jim:thumbsup:
Strix
We promise ourselves we'll do Berwick for a quick break one day - everytime we're knocked out by the views from the train The furthest north we've been is Aviemore, and were hoping to get a bit further north - even if it's only for a drive on one day - but a more northerly than kinross base would be good
surfinjim
Can't really help then Strix. The furthest I've been is Aviemore as well (for the day!!!). Great night out there though. Plenty of "log fire" pubs. You'll find that at Berwick/Alnwick when you get there. Good luck with your search Jim:thumbsup:
lotar
Try Aberdeenshire, Great scenery and great for hill walking.
Ms Macbeth
Try Aberdeenshire, Great scenery and great for hill walking. Kinross is a good base - visit Aberfeldy, Pitlochry, Dunkeld for lovely countryside and walking and Edinburgh, Perth or Dundee for a day in town, they're all near enough for a day out. Loch Leven (the castle in the middle of the loch is another place where Mary Queen of Scots was incarcerated), is next to Kinross. We've stayed for a couple of days in Kinross on more than one occasion en route to visit family in Dundee.
