Windows Firewall & Group Policy

I take you have XP Pro, check the Group Policy settings (Click Start - Run -

gpedit.msc). Expand Administrative Templates, then expand Network, then

Network Connections, then Windows Firewall, and click Standard Profile. Look

at "Windows Firewall: Protect all network connections", and ensure it's set

to "Not Configured". Double-click this settings, check Not Configured, and

then click "Apply" and then click "Ok".

EDIT: Just curious, why do you want to use the Windows firewall?

Run>Regedit, Delete these keys if they exist:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\WindowsFirewall

\DomainProfile \EnableFirewall=0 (DWORD data type)

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\WindowsFirewall

\StandardProfile \EnableFirewall=0 (DWORD data type)

If you are not sure about editing the registry, then I would recommend you download a free firewall.

The Windows firewall isn't up to much TBH.
