What to tell tourists about Sheffield?

I was at the Cathedral tram stop yesterday, and two tourists asked me what was good to see in Sheffield, where they should go - they'd already 'done' the city centre. I was slightly stumped...I love Sheffield, but it's one of those places where there's maybe not a lot to do if you're a tourist and want to go sightseeing.

So what would other forummers have recommended? I managed to put them off going to Meadowhell or Hyde Park ("It's not like London's"), although the tram journey out that way is pretty good for views.

Peak District and everything therein.

I love Sheffield but it's not exactly Disneyland.

If you find some REALLY obnoxious tourists, then some time ago there was a thread full of useful suggestions that seemed to revolve around suggestions that might get people a trip to our Hospitals or Police Cells. :)

Aw, they were very nice tourists! I suggested they hang out in Broomhill or Hunters Bar...but forgot to mention the Botanical Gardens - doh!

Coretext: That little museum by the church on Ecclesall Road, next to the Porter Brook pub, is really good, but it's only open about once a month. All the art galleries are also good - Weston Park re-opens soon...

Maybe i should have just sent them to tourist information - where is that now?
