Help with contact lenses

Recommended Posts

Hey up Minnime. I have worn contact lenses for the past 14 years and although i have to wear them i would say stick with glasses.

However if you do want Contact lenses then it's always a better option to consult an optician. You will be told what type are suitable for you and be given a better idea of price.

Some lenses cost £25 going up to the more advanced which can cost £200+.

It entirely depends on the lenses you choose or are suitable for you. You could get disposable which you can have on a wear once basis or on a wear monthly basis. To hazard a guess i would say that you're looking at something like Focus Daily's. This link has a bit more info.

Contact lenses for curing vision problems are made up to the required prescription to correct your vision, so an optician is involved.

There are also different types - hard, soft, gas-permeable, semi-permeables - some eye problems can be corrected only with 'hard' lenses, for example, whilst other more common problems will respond to treatment with any type of lens.

Corrected sight with contact lenses is rarely as good as corrected sight with glasses. Some lenses can be worn for days on end, others for a day and then thrown away, others for a day and then cleaned and re-used - all depends upon your choice and the optician's advice!

I've worn glasses since my eyesight was affected when I had measles at age 5 - I don't produce enough tears to allow me to wear contacts, and to be honest I dn't mind the specs now - I guess after 40 years you sort of get used to 'em!! :)

I use the monthly disposables, which cost around £15 a month. You just pop them in at the start of the month, wear them continuously (even at night when you sleep) and throw them away at the end of the month.

They're so comfortable I can't even feel them and the vision is great.

thanx hun are they all same strength wat if sumones eyesight worse than other pm me so we can chat bout um please:thumbsup:

No - just like glasses they are fitted by an optician, your vision and their fit checked. If you are serious about getting them, you really need to be going to the optician and they will talk to you about the best options for your eyes and lifestyle. A type of lens that suits one person will not suit another.
