Loss of sound on pc but sound cards still in

hi guys hope u have more no how than i do

 

my pc's lost all sound yet the sound card is still in it and has never been removed. i have looked in the control panel and the computer can't dtect its there

 

how do i get my sound back, and ne ideas what caused it?

Have you tried to do a system restore? More than often that will rectify the fault, just restore it to the previous time you know it was working.

 

Another way may be what I found to be useful for me was to do a Windows update in there is an option to add optional software specific to hardware on your computer.

right click on my computer/hardware/device manager/sound and video controllers

 

is it listed?

does it have a red or yellow symbol?

right click on it, you can either try uninstall or update drivers

 

or right click/properties for other stuff to do / more info

 

yes you may need the driver cd

or look online for the companies more upto date drivers

you haven't muted the sound by accident have you, a friend of mine was most embarrassed to find thats what her problem was when the sound disappeared on her PC

 

aye that can happen :P

 

see if you have the little speaker icon near the clock in the taskbar, double click it

 

if not youll have to go in via the control panel

just done that says that unable to install drivers as it can't find them

 

would the drivers be on the main microsoft disc i got with computer (doubt it)
