josienatasha
Hi, we're studying architecture at the university of sheffield and for our current project we're doing some research into the Canal Basin/ Victoria Quays area. If anyone has any information on the site or its history or the history of the Sheffield and Tinsley canal it would be much appreciated. Thank you! Hopman
There should be a book in the local studies library called something like "The Sheffield and Tinsley Canal". I've seen it in a local bookshop.
josienatasha
Thank you. We've actually had a look at that book which has been quite useful but what we are really trying to get hold of is local hear say or rumour about the site, or local knowledge that may or may not be true, to gain a differernt perspective of the site. If anyone has any information on the area even if you dont think its that useful it would be good to know.
josienatasha
To wizardofODD, thanks for your message but as a new user we cant reply direct to you, any interesting anecdotes would be great, as would any present day or historical rumours and any interesting incidents that have happened there. Thank you. p.s. any clues as to the mystery boat owner?!

Sheffielder
There was a documentary filmed by the BBC that featured the building. It's the one where Richard Dimbelby travels the uk and looks at interesting places - usually shown on BBC 2 They filmed and aired it about 2 years ago - and it's reshown regularly
