KenH
I have two daughters and one son. MY daughters seem to believe in God and talk about God as if he is a real thing. My son has thought such ideas to be daft since he was tiny. I also notice that most UK churches seem to have far more women than men. I always assumed that women were more attracted to church because, historically, they have been closer to life and death. I now wonder if there is some fundemental difference between the sexes that make it far more likley for women to follow religions. Of course most of the people in power in religions are men, but this is about power not religion isn't it? I also note that far more women than men seem to get involved in psuedo religions or associated practices, such as spititualism or new age/witchcraft mumbo jumbo. Am I right in thinking that men tend to be far more cynical about such things unless they are making money from it?
Jabberwocky
Id say it was hormonal in a Testosterone way. Men are too tough to admit they believe in god or religion, theyre ashamed for some reason to tell another man that they believe in Jesus etc. My sad little theory is that women arent as ashamed because they dont mind "soft" stuff. Im not personally religious in any way, and I must admit that I DO admire any male who isnt ashamed to admit that he believes in gods. Its the same with crying, how many men admit to that? Yeah I know but.. you know, the man in the street, he might feel the god thing and be too scared to mention it in case he comes across as wimpy or something. Draggletail
Maybe it's to do with left/right brain perceptions? A link to left/right brain ways of being Are women (on the whole) more 'right brained' than men? (or am I grossly stereotyping here) Left Brain = Logical Sequential Rational Analytical Objective Looks at parts Right brain = Random Intuitive Holistic Synthesizing Subjective Looks at wholes

(or am I grossly stereotyping here) Yes, you (and KenH) are grossly stereotyping . Religious belief isn't hormonal, but it could have something to do with temporal lobe epilepsy... LordChaverly
Its about time there was a female founder of a world religion - let's call her Rita (peace be upon her) and her followers Ritans. I wonder what the main theological tenets of Ritanism would be?
