Coloured contact lenses

You must have particularly awkward ones.

I only wear mind about once a week, but it only takes me 10 seconds to put in and I can definintely take them back out when pished. (Although I did lose one once doing that).

I've fancied some coloured ones for a while, but I can't get them with my full prescription (astigmatism in both eyes), so i've never gone ahead and got any.

I don't think it was the lenses fault, I've just got an aversion to poking myself in the eye. Getting them out was a lot easier than getting them in, I never tried when drunk though. I think the fact you have to have lessons from an optician on how to put them in and out speaks volumes about why they shouldn’t just be bought off the shelf when you haven’t used them before.

I'd agree with that, if I was buying them they'd come from an opticians (well, through the post as my normal lenses do).

Once you've poked yourself in the eye for a few days and got used to touching your eyeball it no longer seems odd or difficult. I find the most difficult bit holding the eye open enough to not catch the lense on my eyelashes.

If you consider buying contact lenses without consulting an optician then you obviously don't care about the state of your eyes - you only have one pair of eyes - they can't be replaced.

If you're interested in them take a look at these sites:

The other plus side of going to an opticians is they will let you try different colours on your eyes before you decide which ones you want to order

a quick check with any optician will tell you if your eyes are suitable for contacts

anyone bought any then? how much would they be from a good optician? any in meadowhall that sell them for people who don't need vision correction?

try one of the opticians in meadowhall - you won't be able to get them from anywhere else. you'll need to have an in-date eye examination and also go for a contact lens assessment - even though you don't need vision correction you need to make sure they won't do any damage to your eyes and you know how to use them & clean them properly!
