Coloured contact lenses

Right, I'm not going all UV - Cat Eyed on you all but, always the one to experiment - I would quite like to have blue eyes for a night or so.

I have no problems with my eyes so would like the non-prescription kind, but would like them to look natural.

How much are they, can you only use them once and has anybody used them before?

Don't want them glowing up on the dance floor or anything :hihi::help:

Personally, having seen people wearing the blue coloured contact lenses, they do look very unnatural. I don't know why they made them in such a fake colour

Iv tried these type of contact lenses before. Well, attempted to try them, i couldnt get them in. I was trying for aaaaages.

I bought them for about £3-£4 from a website i found in the back of a hair dressing book.

What i have just told you is probably no use at all because i dont know the website address

And having read the replies above, I would recommend you NEVER just buy them from a shop. You really need to see an optician and have them fitted properly even if you don't have a problem with your vision. Without staggering initial wear you'll get '3am Syndrome' (so painful you don't want to know what it is), and also risk causing permanent eye damage using ill fitting lenses.

I've worn them before, mine were from the opticians, years ago. They were on some kind of free/cheap trial. Mine lasted for a month i think but you could only wear them so many hours in the day and was not recommended for everyday use. This is going back years though (i've been wearing contact lenses since i was 12)

Not everyones eye colour can suit other colours by the way, i wanted these purple ones but when i tried them on my natural eye colour didn't set them off very well. So i had these vivid blue ones which were abit too vivid but pretty cool.

Only other thing i'd say is i'd get them from the opticians it shouldn't matter if they don't need to be prescription they will most likely still sell them to you. I'd say this for eye health reasons and so you know exactly what your doing. Also at least you know you're getting them from somewhere reputable that knows what they're doing/on about.

Ooh go on, whats 3am syndrome?

Not the fake blue kind, they do have some that are more natural.

Thanks girlies

x_Sunshine_x do you actually wear contact lenses or have done previously? If you haven't I really wouldn't recommend you wear them just for a laugh. Contacts are really difficult to get in, if you are wearing them on a night out I can't imagine how difficult it would be to get them out when drunk!

If you abuse them, even the soft lenses can cause permanent scarring to your eyes. One of mine once rolled itself up as I was taking it out and went right up to the top of my eye underneath the lid. I'm still not sure how I managed to force that back out!

If you wear contact lenses for too long within the first week of getting them you wake up around 3am with excruciating eye pain (I wouldn't actually know, I'm a good girly so never got it!). I think this is more likely with the 'novelty' coloured contact lenses not supplied by opticians as they aren't made out of the most modern materials which allow a lot of oxygen to get to the eye. The Acuvue site has a printable voucher for 1 pair of coloured daily lenses - highly recommended and very comfortable.

EDIT - ooo it has an actual name: 'contact lens overwear syndrome'.

Not for a laugh really, just a temporary image change.

If I was wearing them for a laugh I'd have tacky smily faces or something :hihi:

Eew ur putting me off wearing them now!
