mr craig
Well it looks like a very expensive package of mine has gone missing somewhere between the U.S and Sheffield. I know there will have been quite a bit of duty and VAT to pay on it so I've been wondering will customs know if it arrived in the U.K? I think i remember seeing on TV that all the mail that arrives in the U.K goes to a clearing warehouse before its allowed to get to its destination here, is this true?? I've had a look on the customs website but i didn't really find any answers there and I've sent a couple of emails but had nothing back yet. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated as i am very anxious to get this package. Cheers!
taxman
Not to get on my soapbox again but bloody customs can't keep track off weapons, drugs, people or explosives coming into the country. I'd be astonished if they kept track of anything
Guest
It depends if customs decided it needed opening or not, if not it'll just have passed through. If it was very expensive i hope you had it insured!! Even better tracked as well May cost more but worth it in the long run.

Jabberwocky
I never had trouble getting things in, i had more trouble sending things out to the US. Mostly pilfering, Ive lost count of the times packages have arrived at their destination empty and with neat little slits in them.

Yeah its insured but i've heard that trying to get the money out out USPS is like trying to get blood from a stone. No tracking number, for some reason i'm still trying to figure out the guy i bought it off decided to send it the cheapest way possible so no tracking numbere was given. I've been in touch with USPS and they say they haven't got a clue where it is that why i'm hoping customs might have some idea.

This is the first time i've had any trouble importing or exporting things. Its just my luck the first time something like this happens its on something thats pretty expensive. Guest
If customs do open it it can take ages to get through, they're incredibly slow sometimes. If it was USPS and air mail it's normally fairly quick. I won't hold any hopes if they sent it USPS surface, last thing someone sent me disappeared! Ask them for proof of posting as in a receipt showing how they sent it.

peterw
If Customs want any tax, rest assured they’ll let you know when it arrives.
