Sneakerfreak
I'm considering the MacDonald hotel as a venue for my wedding but wondered if anyone on this forum has been to a wedding ceremony and/or reception at this hotel? Any comments gratefully received.
boosh
not been to a wedding there...but lots of charity d/dances....its average!...if you have the downstairs room people split up into the bar outside, that makes the venue disjointed. Drinks are mega expensive! and the bars are not well manned....so If you go for it watch out for the above....as a plus you could get some nice pictures in the peace gardens and poss inside at the winter gardens side. If you want a good venue..try Whitley Hall Elliott Lane grenoside....or make sure you sort the niggles with the management at mac D's

sazaboo
my dad had his in the room downstairs, the room is lovely at the moment, it wont take long before the decor looks dated as its very modern, no windows, the buffet was really nice, tables were dressed with candles and sparklry bits etc, had a lovely night, i was on bottles of wine for £15 which was the cheapest. guiness was about £3 a pint, pretty average prices for a city centre hotel. 2wentypence
If you want a good venue..try Whitley Hall Elliott Lane grenoside....or make sure you sort the niggles with the management at mac D's The drinks are overpriced at Whitley Hall i thought. c£3.50 pint Stella. Try Whirlow Hall, nice setting- great grounds for photos, decent food and the drinks are pub prices.

_johnnyb_
Hotel drinks prices do tend to be a little on the expensive side. Last week a hotel in Maidstone relieved me of £7 for a glass of wine and a coke
Sneakerfreak
Thanks everyone for their feedback - went to visit the hotel today and everything looked very nice. Will keep you all posted!
samc
Went to a 'do' there and the food was average and the starter very disappointing. Wine was pricey and not even decent plonk. But their cream teas are lovely.
Sheffield678
Food is very nice at St Pauls and the function room downstairs is new and modern. No windows though but the hotel decor is very good and clean. Hotel rooms over peace gardens are fantastic.
