rpmfc06
Hey, me again. I was wondering if you could help me out with any old maps from Sheffield. Any will do but i am looking for ones specifically when the City was first starting out and when it was just a small hamlet. I am hoping to compose a time line / layer over layer of the developing city. Thanks Alot Rob

What roads are they, the A57 not sure about the other one!? The Roman Road started at Brough near Hathersage and then through Redmires Reservoir, along Redmires Road to Crosspool, then down Lydgate Lane to Brookhill Roundabout, to the Wicker, then to Wincobank Hill, on to Templeborough, and through to Wattling Street. (A1) (There was a Roman fort at Brough)

Greybeard
There's a nice rendition of Gosling's 1736 map here.... http://www.gleadless.net/pages/maps/1736sh.htm and there are other later maps of Sheffield lying about on the internet, - if I can remember where they are I'll post the links. Edit: retep did it already
