Romario
Hi I've been trying to change airline bookings online & when i get to a certain part of the site using firefox as the browser, it says 'certain perrimeters are missing'. When i used IE all was ok! Why is this & how can i change my firefox settings so that i can use it for such things! Rom
fnkysknky
Depends how the site was written - certain pages will work in IE that don't work in Firefox and it's usually down to IE not following standards very well. Best thing to do is install IE tab extension in Firefox - you can then right click any page and render it with the IE engine while still inside Firefox. https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1419/
Guest
That's because the site hasn't been written properly. Any site nowadays that doesn't work in anything but IE is just crap, the developers should be shot and the site owners should be told they're loosing money because of it! On a public Internet site there is some merit on what you say. On a web site that's Intranet or 'closed user group' facing, making it IE only may be totally acceptable if the users are all expected to use IE. Many large companies have Intranets or sites designed only for access by their staff, and if they're a Microsoft 'house' they probably feel no reason to do anything different. Guest
Yep that's fine with me too, IE is our default browser at work so we know it's what people are told to use. However on an airline bookings website it's not acceptable at all.....MS house or not, they should know developing for IE only restricts their market. It's more fun on bigger websites where you can tell them rough percentages of visitors that use browser X and if they multiply that by the amount of money an average visitor will spend they soon realise how much it can add up to in lost earnings. All through being closed in.
Romario
Maybe the airline site is kissing the ar*e of Microsoft & won't accept that others exist. As i assume they all use Microsoft Windows, they won't allow any others, like a goody goody aproach! Rom
