My son had a few spots (blisters) on his body yesterday and he as got up today covered in them. I have put him some calamine lotion on them and given him some childrens nurofen. Is there anything else i can do and does he need to go to the docs?:help:

Nope hun. Nothing you can do but stop him scratching them or they may scar. You only need to give him nurofen etc if he is also poorly with it. When mine had CP they were running around like maniacs, just very spotty ones.

As soon as the blisters are dry and crusty hes isn't infectious anymore.

Piriton!!!!

you can get it over the counter in tablet or syrup form, and I swear by it for all things itchy. When my lad had them he was 2, and wouldn't let me put calamine lotion on.

He had them in his eyes mouth and ears, but the worst one was on the bottom of his foot!

I agree with the pox party, get it all outa the way...my eldest kid had em for his 3rd b/day, and most of his friends still came to the party to catch em and get em outta the way...

Jena theres not a lot you can do. Piriton is a great idea though and should help with the itching. If money is tight you should be able to get a prescription from your GP.

Don't worry it doesn't last long. DS#2 had it at 18mths so couldnt even explain properly how he felt but he was coated in them, eyes, ears, tushy etc. distraction is the best bet.

When his temp has gone down play some games with him to take his mind off it.

Also to help with the scratching I put some soft socks on his hands and secured them loosely with hair bands. Scratch Mitts for bigger boys :P
