simondjuk
I know its still over a month away but is anyone expecting trick or treaters in the next few weeks? Correct me if im wrong but I thought trick or treat was for the night of Halloween not 3 weeks before. Where I live, last year, we had the first lot on the 2nd October. Whats the earliest you have ever had them knocking on the door. If they come that early what do you tell them? I dont mind them on the night but almost a month before is ridiculous. fox20thc
Tell them to come back on the 31st if you play along, if not growl at them and say bugger off.

borninsheffield
I remember going out a couple of months early. Anything to get some cash in those days.
christait
Way to early. I like Halloween, Bonfire Night, Xmas etc... but hate seeing everything for them months in advance. Fireworks are being set off now and I would expect the kids to be round doing trick and treat and penny for the guy at the same time. I'm always polite and ask them to come back closer to the time and they will get a treat (i do tend to find out what trick they have too - always nice to see how things have progressed since I used to do it. Bog roll and eggs still freature well I believe)

BobbyBunny
Grrrrr I tell them to go away, and come back closer to the time. And when they come back, I ask them if they know what Hallowe'en is really about. And if they don't, I tell them to come back when they do. Suffice to say, they never come back, and call me 'that evil lady'. Last year, my Mum offered them a carrot each. They were not best pleased. Sultana
I'm afraid I dont agree with Trick or Treat & will not open the door. When it comes to penny for the "guy" (shapeless lump with mask on), I do not give them anything either. I only give carol singers money if they can actually sing what I class as a carol - which they never can - so more cash saved there! I am not a mean nasty person, but all this is tantamount to begging, which is unnecessary these days.
