The link forwards to http://www.gazelleclub.ru/suspended.page/default2.asp.htm which asks for your account details.

I knew this was a scam as I don't even have an account with Nationwide.

I have just checked the Nationwide website and there is a warning about the scam on their front page.

we had a phonecall last week claiming to be from the credit card company - they got short shrift, and a phonecall to the general enquiries line revealed that they HAD NOT been in touch with us - for security, for sales, or for any other reason

Just received another - this time claiming to be from Barclays.

The link is registered in denmark - but the page wont actually load.

Exactly same wording as previous post apart from changed from Nationwide to Barclays and this time registered in Denmark rather than Russia.

Yep, if anyone clicks on links from emails from anywhere they're a bit daft nowadays.

Always go to the site by typing it into the location bar in the browser unless you're absolutely 20000% sure the email is genuine.

Easiest way to check is display the message in text mode and it'll show you the URLs that it's actually going to. HTML email was the downfall of email really....makes it so easy to scam people.
