Historical Info about Deepcar reqd.

Recommended Posts

I know about the 3 mesolithic hearths at the north end of the crags and the children of the mines in the mid 1800's but I would like to know a little more about Deepcar. Can anyone point me in the right direction.

just moved up here ,only know about fox glen in victorian times.

our fav place is the hills at side of golf course im told this is just called the commom, but theres one of the best views in sheffield

up those hills.

ive read there is a saxon burial ground somewhere near there.

can you give any info.

going back to fox glen, it was opened by a lady in victorian times

as a park with a swimming pool and paddling pool, both of which

you can still see the remnants where the walls have slightly broken away.

also heard about the girl who fell down pit shaft and suppose to haunt fox glen.

some relation to the helliwell's-hence helliwell lane.

got this from book at stocksbridge library-fox glen remembered.
