Greybeard   10 #14 Posted September 25, 2006 Makes you wonder about Ford Orion owners. Would you buy a Ford Orion ? - would anyone you know buy a Ford orion ?  Perhaps theirs a hot market in Nigeria or somewhere for clapped-out Ford Orions
 Share this content via...
KenH Â Â 10 #15 Posted September 25, 2006 According to the BBC:- Â Car owners there are more than five times as likely to have their vehicle stolen than anywhere else in the UK. Â I can't say I believe this at all. How can it be so bad that we have five times as many thefts as anywwhere else? I don't know a single person who has had a car stolen. Probably some people out there do know of a theft, but on these odds, wouldn't every street have dozens of thefts?
 Share this content via...
zippydude   10 #16 Posted September 25, 2006 i dont think ford have been manufacturing the ford orion for about 15years. Therefore the newest is a rather fetching 1991 modle, featuring no central locking, unpowered steering, an engine thats done about 48 million miles & a stereo that plays the old 78 records. If you are gonna buy a ford orion you will be buying an car for 50 quid. What type of person will be buying said car? probably someone living on the Manor, where else! The car gets nicked form someone round the courner and so and so one. Which is why you never ever see them on the streets of Sheffield! They are all in 'Grubbersville'. GazB Â Â 10 #17 Posted September 25, 2006 5 times more likely to get your car stolen here? What other places in Britian were included in the survey, Windsor and the Lake District? Â Cobblers.
 Share this content via...

AlquarUK Â Â 10 #19 Posted September 25, 2006 cars are getting harder to nick, hence the old orion is an easy target
 Share this content via...
lobster_8 Â Â 10 #20 Posted September 25, 2006 My lovely clio wasn't difficult to nick from the car park outside of my work. The irony being that i work in criminal justice.
 Share this content via...
geocol   10 #21 Posted September 25, 2006 To the b*st*rds who broke into my car, in the car park at the back of Cole brothers (I know it was a few years ago now ) and stole the camera case from the boot; I hope you found the cans of De-Icer, Rustola and WD40 useful!  Expecting to find a Nikon were you?  I bet your faces were a picture! cgksheff   44 #22 Posted September 25, 2006  I can't say I believe this at all.  I would think that you are correct. Some numpty has made up a press release without using the brains that they were born with.  It may well be that Sheffield has a Car Crime Frequency that is 5 times higher than the quietest place in the UK, or 5 times higher than the UK Average. These are completely different things to those reported.  "Sack the Muppets"!  .... and score 'one' for those who support better standards of English! Bloomdido   10 #23 Posted September 26, 2006 Two Granadas and one Escort written off due to damage when breaking in. One Corsa stolen recovered. All outside my home in broad daylight at the weekend. Police notified one one occasion whilst the break-in was occuring but the call handler was too busy taking the caller's details rather than calling in the Police, by which time they had legged it.  I'm still waiting for the crime reference number for the last one which happened over 3 weeks ago. Can't claim on the insurance as the excess is too high or my no-claims gets hammered.  Be very careful parking on Finchwell Road S13 outside the shop if you own an 'easy' car. mc55 Â Â 10 #24 Posted September 26, 2006 I had my car broken into in the car park at Grenoside woods a few years ago. They took the tax disc, my prescription sunglasses (yup, they really did) and ... wait for it ... the enormous box of Fairy washing powder that was in the boot of my car ... I think this was in frustration at not being able to find the cd player. Â I've accidentally left it unlocked over night on a few occasions and had no problems (touch wood).
