Do you live in Deepcar?

you have got to ask yourself why there must be a reason you have been warned

Are you saying there is a reason and you know it but don't want to share? If not are you saying that just becasuse house prices are slightly cheaper than closer to Sheffield then it just must be a terrible place?

I Tried to be a little diplomatic, I will try to clarify what I meant.

If you have noticed that houses seem cheaper here than anywhere else the reason must because of the area I advised that you should work it out for yourself by doing research into the area and find out why the houses appear to be cheaper and then form your own conclusion. I never said anything wrong about the district I know nothing about deepcar I only gave a solution and that was WORK IT OUT FOR YOURSELF

I used to live in Stocksbridge, this is the next village on from Deepcar.

When I was old enough I managed to escape!!!

Nah seriously, its an ok place to live, just a few things from my experience

(a) Its very quiet

(b) Its a long way out of town and taxi's are really expensive to get home

© The bus service isnt great and it used to take me ages to get home from work, used to add an hour at least each way to work (again varies if you live on main road).

(d) In winter its a nitemare - I couldnt go to work a lot of the time as there is more snow up there and I had to take it as hols (not good!).

Stocksbridge and Deepcar are one of those places where most people know each other, that is probably down the the Steel Works in past years and all the families lived in the local area. I guess this is changing now as people move on.

Good luck!

hi there i originally lived in deepcar/stocksbridge. until a year ago. on a fri/sat nite the nite life can be fun, espeacially round halloween xmas, or in the summer and bonfire nite. but it can also be rough this is depending which pub ya go to. the houses are over priced in my opinion but mainly you are paying for the area, its quite not ridden with drug users or prostites and can be a nice place to live. but on the downside its a longway from town when the slightest bit of snow falls buses top running and beacause its a smallest village(not that smal but small enough) whatever you do everyone knows about it the nxt day. ive lived there 20yr i know what its like but plp are friendly down there and dont judge books by their covers. good luck with your decision

There are a few relatively cheap areas to live in and around Sheffield and I believe that Deepcar is one of the best. If you can cope with it being quiet and 20mins drive from Sheffield then I would say this is one of the least rough areas around Sheffield considering the house prices. From my windows I can see nice green hills which make me feel happy every day, and considering how small the area is, there are a few really good shops (good grocers and butchers as well as 2 supermarkets) which are within walking distance. I'm not from Sheffield originally but I'm suprised about some people's bias against Deepcar/Stocksbridge as to me the only major downfall is the distance I need to travel to get to work although I understand that it may not be lively enough for many people!
