Lianndi
I've been there! The bread is excellent, the dessert was quite good. As there is some sort of Michelin rating vicariously attached to it [either the chef has one or he was trained by someone who has one], the prices are quite competitive. However, I was not overwhelmed by the quality of the food. When we went there, a lovely, pleasant young woman served our drinks/table; and an obnoxious, obsequious young man was our primary waiter. Maybe he was just having a bad day. Who knows I know many people like their meat very rare and rare - that was the default served; and the portions were haute couture [aka not very large but ok if u r having a three course meal, which we didn't, but the bread filled us up!] All in all - not impressed! And thats our entire party - even those who liked their meat bleeding
Chipmunk
I haven't been myself but my physio raved about it. She said "the food's wonderful and it's great because they don't give you large portions". She was very thin so that probably suited her. Myself I like to feel I've got my money's worth and like a largeish portion, so if you like a plate full it's probably not the place to go. discovery
I've been. We went on a Tuesday night in a party of 12 for a 40th birthday. They do jazz on Tuesdays and Saturdays and it was great. Food, service and atmosphere were all excellent and the puddings are to die for! A little on the pricey side but worth it for a special occasion.

Ally_Fraser
I've always said that you should go to a restaurant to enjoy the food, rather than to get filled up. If you want to fill your belly with grub, go to the fish and chip shop. But if you prefer to enjoy the tastes and textures of food, then somewhere like the Walnut club is ideal. You can still appreciate the tastes and textures of food AND want to be full. I don't see the point of paying high prices to come away not feeling satisfied. sneakypink
I took my boyfriend for our anniversary in July and was very impressed. The restaurant itself is lovely, cool prints on the wall. It was a saturday night so we had the jazz which was a great addition to the atmosphere and the food was beautiful, definately agree about the desserts being to die for and the portions are plentiful. One of the nicest meals I have eaten (I love my food!!). The waiters and waitresses were friendly and helpful, and love the fact that there is only one sitting so you have your table for the whole night...ended up spending a fortune with cocktails after dinner, but well worth it for a really special evening, and having hathersage as the backdrop makes the experience even more enjoyable. Would recommend!
Dreamer
Definately recommend I went with my Mum and friends for her hen party for afternoon tea. Absolutely superb and were all left very full. Can't wait to go back.
