Rooty
Does anyone know anything about these.. does it go off just because there is a car after the white line when the lights on red? Basically this morning on the way to work the light was on green the guy in front of me went and so did i (obviously, because the light was on green) but the guy in front stopped as i think he wasn't wanting to block the junction (it wasn't yellow box junction though- not that i think its ok to block junctions!) even though in my opinion he didn't really need to, we both had small cars and easily would have got across without blocking anything. Anyways by the time he would have decided to carry on going the lights went to red so we waited but we were both after the white line. Im worried that if the camera just goes off it it detects a car after the white line on a red light then im screwed thanx to that driver in front. Anyone know if my situation would have set it off or not?
Meaks
I'm pretty sure that you'd only be caught if you drove over the white line while the light was red. If you look at a junction with a red light camera there are strips in the road before and after the white line. Crossing both of these while the light was on red would set it off. Hopefully you should be OK.

There aren't any unfortunatley on the part of the road this happened on (coming from the direction of abbeydale road tescos to the junction where you can turn right to go up archer road) as if it did have these strips im sure i'd definitley be in the clear. Suppose i'll find out in 14 days...

Camera sites If you were stopped in traffic it wouldn't go of anyways...I think you need to be travelling over the white lines at 12mph or more to set it off! Chumley
Meaks is right - you have to cross the line while the light is red to set it off. Even then, you will only be prosecuted if you continue to move forward after crossing the line.
