Nyx
Hi, not sure if this is the right place to post this but here goes. Does anyone know if there is such a thing as a telephone line timer and if there is where would i get one. I want the landline to be live for a couple of hours a day and then not for the rest without me having to remember to take the phonejack out all the time. cgksheff
Is this to stop calls coming in, or to stop outgoing calls being made?
Nyx
Hi there, it`s to stop calls coming in, i`ve registered with the telephone preference service but the automated ones are still quite frequent, there have been several today
bigflesh
Considered a renumber?
Nyx
Hi, yes tried the renumber a while ago, did the one where you can have 2 numbers on one line with different rings for each number ( can`t remember the name for it) didn`t keep it long tho cos the new number was like a car insurance hotline lol
Strix
the best thing to do is probaly ask for the service whereby your line will only accept calls from identifiable numbers. Most call centre calls are from 'withheld' numbers, so they wouldn't be able to get through
cgksheff
"Anonymous Call Reject" would do the job, but costs £4 per month from BT.
Darbees
If it was a cordless phone you could put a timer on the electrical plug, though it might make a fuss when it resets itself when it turns back on again. Or just switch the bell off.
Nyx
The problem with the identifiable numbers is that i`ve relatives overseas and when they call it comes up as out of area on the phone. The anonymous call reject would be great if it was free , the trouble is i`m against giving anymore of my hard earned to bt than i have to. The timer on the plug socket for the cordless is a good idea, i think this`ll be the option i choose, the older handset upstairs will just have to be upgraded to a cordless so that i can do the same on both phones Thanks to all who helped, i`m glad i posted when i did as i was about to swap the cordless for a corded one to stop having as much stuff plugged in!
