sarah1
The first thing that comes into my mind when I think of Walkley is that it's very hilly.. :) Other than that, I think it's a good area.. I have a friend who lives up there and most of my other half's family all lived up there and they all loved it.. They never had any bother.. donkey
I lived in Walkley for a year and a half. It's a good area. Good transport links to town plus morrisons, netto and tesco are all in Walking distance. Also, it's not too rough.

Tradescanthia
Lived there 16 years ago for 10 years, only left for work reasons. Would never have moved otherwise. Best area I have lived in.

babychickens
it is all hills but the pubs are nice (always good for students to know) the area is very nice some of the pubs are very local, some of them are fine. taht said, i love walkley (i'm an ex student, as are lots of people who live in walkley) and we're only moving because we'd like a bigger house and can't afford a bigger house in walkley, at least not one with a garage, anyway. It isn't that hilly, it's just mostly on the side of a hill. would you like to buy my house? perhaps you've already seen it - 70 cromwell street.... oh, there's a really good italian restaurant, a pretty good lebanese restaurant, and the jaflong (best curries in this bit of town) is only 10 minutes to walk to. there's also a rather good bakery. 2wentypence
Think Walkley, think hills, think row after row of generally tired terrace houses, think nightmare double parking, think pubs dotted about. Pretty it aint but generally a nice community.
Yellowrose
My son and girlfriend, both ex Sheffield Hallam Students have just taken an apartment there and they both like it. If you have a car, suss out the parking situation.
