CHOIRBOY
In view of the high number of accidents and insurance claims by young drivers should not the age of driving be raised to 18?

Deepcarowl
nope, at least 22 As with drinking it should be 21 on 30th January 2007, the day after my 21st. Maybe then on 30th january 2008 it should be 22:thumbsup:
boosh
errrrr sorry missed the point....its late! i am talking about drinking and driving!! (what a dope i am) anyway the driving age...you may have a point if it was say 18 to 20ish it might work and they should bring in restrictions on power of the car ..... like they do with scooters and learner motorbikes. Whats anyone else think
Saxon
I wondered how long it would take for this one to raise its head!
jena76
I think the age should be raised to start driving and also people should be stopped at a certain age too! young and old drivers are a hazard! It also solves abit of the traffic congestions:thumbsup:
joeyannie
I can see a valid arguement for restrictions on the engine size/power for novice drivers, but perhaps by number of years post-test as well or instead of age...to encompass those who dont learn the minute they turn 17. stackmonkey
I don't think that age itself is a problem; it's the (relative) lack of training and experience. I'd be more in favour of the 12 months of lessons/training that was mooted earlier this month in the media.
Faye12
I think the driving association says that the most accidents etc are caused by the age group 17-25, but it also matters who is behind the wheel, and if they have a mature head or not. Not all drivers between that age gap are careless etc but some lads who are in the age gap tend to be a little over - confident and think they are acting out a part in the Fast and the Furious sometimes, and sometimes girlies can be a little racey,
