Lestat
A friend of mine was disconnected from BT about a year ago, she wants to reconnect and pay an outstanding bill. But everytime she phones the 0800 800 150 - it's an automated service that asks for her number and account number too. She wants to know if theres any way of finding out these details, we've looked on the http://www.bt.com website but cannot find any help of this kind, she's tried holding on the line but after 25 mins there still wasn't a rep to talk to. Is there an easier way to find out this info?

I switched to a cable network for my phone about 6 years ago, the service they provide is a lot better than BT
Strix
dial 151 instead - it's the fault line, but they should transfer her to the right place (make sure she insists that it isn't 150 she's transferred back to, else she'll be stuck in the same place again )

I don't know if they just have like 4 people manning the lines or something. I don't know the answer for your friend but I hope she gets through! Lestat
I'm not that surprised to hear other people have been kept waiting, for such a large company they should have quicker responses to people. Thanks for the link Strix.
southernbell
Hi If your friend has old telephone number they should be able to access the account, personally, and i'm not be racist or anything, when put through to abroad with BT i ask to be put back through to UK, they can do it you just have to insist and during normal office hours- got tired of repeating myself and then only to find out that overseas are not able to carry out the same things in the uk
Lestat
What cable companies do good deals on phonelines?...just interested so I can pass the info on, if it works out cheaper, it's probably be a better option.

Try NTL, they use to be telewest. Good packages and if anythin goes wrong there is always someone to answer any problems. BT is probably the worse company for customer service ever. You can get to the directory enquiies okay and pay rip off amounts for doing so, but as soon as you encounter a problem they make it as hard as possible
