fox20thc
Timing or what! Today I get a letter from the union about Aviva and the crappy 4000 norwich union job cuts to save money for shareholders (*blah blah blah) and on the same day Aviva send a press release to me bragging about their commitment of a cool mill. to the oxfam disaster relief fund. Call me cynical but we don't want any major catastrophe in India/Sri Lanka stopping their poor call centre staff from being able to get to work now do we!

Plain Talker
I'm changing insurer. I refuse to deal with them anymore. Absolute disgrace. good for you! I hope more take the same stance, 1-man... I tried to get through to another (national!!!!) company yesterday, and got a Delhi call centre. Could not make myself understood to the operative... *frown* it's ridiculous. stop the sell-out, that's what I say. I hope that there aren't going to be many of the NU staff who are members of the forum affected by these swingeing cuts at NU.... PT
angle20
Big businesses may not care much about their workers but they do care about their 'corporate image'. Charitable donations (like political donations) may give them some credit which they can usefully draw upon on some future occasion.
Maddy
I hadn't even heard about that one but we have had so many charity drives in the last few months it was actually getting a but annoying. I give as much as I can but when you seem to be donating all your wages back to work somethings gone wrong! Charity begins at home etc
