Swan_Vesta
I did it once a few years back, if it's a mobile number it helps if you have the bill payers name because you can narrow the field and corelate information. Scarily easy to do, I got address, home phone number car reg etc ...... well dodgy
scoop
More to the point, why? Someone has cashed a cheque for something I bought n ebay but not sent the goods. I've just rung the number the user has registered on ebay but the woman who answered said I had the wrong number, so out of interest I'd like toknow if the phone number does belong to the address I sent the cheque to. Leave it to ebay and open a Paypal account. How long ago was the stuff meant to have been sent, and would it have been sent registered post, or by courier, or any method requiring a signature? If it's just by normal post the item isn't traceable.

The cheque cleared on the 30th August, then on the 5th september I had an email saying that he'd had to go overseas due to a death in the family. So I waited a while, since then I've emailed him twice but had no reply. I paid for postage by special delivery.

I'm not sure if you can trace the address of a landline from the number though ......
upinwath
Put the last 6 digits of the number in the IE address line. You may get lucky. just tried it with mine and found myself. Don't forget to add seller comment on e-bay and contact e-bay as well
lalaland
What you are asking is if it's possible to do a reverse lookup on a telephone number. The answer is yes, it's possible, however it's not legal as far as I know. There were software packages a while back that allowed you to do this, but this was a few years back and are no longer available with that feature. If you have a bit of programming knowledge you can modify the current release to do a reverse lookup, but this would be illlegal so probably not worth doing. By all means report it to Ebay, but it won't do much. I've found that unless you are a major company or someone that makes money for Ebay you don't normally get much interest from them. Do you still have the address you posted the cheque to? Call directory enquiries and ask for the number of the person that lives at that address, you should have their last name if you sent them a cheque. Also, if it's not too far away, you could pay a visit to the address. Good luck with it.
