Unregistered
Just came past and part of Halifax Road is blocked off, looks like near the White Horse, anybody know what's happened? A TEENAGER is fighting for his life today after a cycling prank left him crushed under the wheels of an articulated lorry. Police said the 13-year-old boy was hitching a lift up a hill on his bike by hanging on to a lorry when he lost control and was dragged under the 38-tonne vehicle. The teenager, from Foxhill, was left with serious head and chest injuries and fractures to his arm and legs. He was today fighting for life in Sheffield Children's Hospital with his devastated family at his bedside. Police said the boy was pedalling along Halifax Road in Wadsley Bridge when he rode onto the pavement opposite the junction with Southey Green Road as the passing lorry made its way up the hill. He then made a grab for the straps on the side of the HGV so he could be towed up the hill on his bike without pedalling. Instead the boy lost control and was pulled beneath the lorry's wheels. The road was taped off and closed to motorists for around two hours while traffic investigators carried out their inquiries. The dangerous prank was today condemned by South Yorkshire Police, who issued a warning to other youngsters that lives could be lost.

medusa
hmm tha seems a bit dramatised if he indeed walked to the ambulance I know someone who got up and moved his motorbike out of the road after breaking both legs and one arm in a crash- shock does amazing things to the body. It's also a possibility that the person seen walking to an ambulance was an onlooker or the truck driver affected by shock, rather than the lad that was actually badly hurt. roger
although i feel for the parents many times i have seen kids doing similar things to this and it was only a matter of time before something went wrong i hope the young lad recovers and that not only does it serve to educate him but others that roads are not meant to be playgrounds
