DavidRa
There's nowt wrong with XP Home, and it's probably the fact you're using dial-up that's slowing everything down. What about getting broadband? In the SF FAQ, there is a section which lists different security programs, all recommended, tried and tested by members here, and it might be as well to have a look at that. Good point about broadband, I only use the internet for information ,and updating programmes the last update though took about an hour I was told that for one programme I use that it would not work on the home edition ,its one thats a normal data based programme. My modem as decided it will not work and the computer cannot detect it,it seemed to happen when the computer wanted to install some Hardware Wizard that seems to have stuffed it up.I have tried restoring it to a previous date, but still wants to install the above and mentions microsoft office 2003 installation CD. I will continue to use the ancient laptop, until I take the desktop in to a PC shop.
