Sneakerfreak
Hi, Just wondered if any of the forum members have got married or been to a wedding in Gretna ? Want somewhere fairly close (i.e. not carribean) for the ceremony so the family can attend - rather than them coming with us abroad for the wedding. This way we can have a lavish honeymoon on our own!!! Any other venues would be welcome also ? Thanks
elenac
What sort of budget you on? Went to brother inlaws wedding at Gretna, nice service, only downside was large numbers of tourists there at the time. We got married at a castle in Clarencefield. This is a small village a bit further along the coast.
Sneakerfreak
Budget not really a problem considering we were planning on subsidising the family joining us in a Hawaiian wedding - just want about 10 people and that's it. Don't even want to wear a suit and our lass doesnt want a meringue dress

Hels
Elenac you got married the same place as me! Comlongon Castle in Clarencefield yeah?! It was a bit of a bargain when we were there 11 years ago. The people there were so friendly and helpful it really made the day extra special. I'd recommend it. They have a web site so you could always have a look to find out more.

stackmonkey
Gretna is a good place to visit, but I understand that there is something of a 2 year waiting list for marriages..
Rachylou
my friends got married in gretna green in may...was ok for us as we went and had a good time...the ceremony wasn't anything spectacular but would never get married there myself as it were as if everyone were cattle...out with the old in with the new...there were about 10 different brides walking about all day and night so wasn't really such a speical day for the bride and groom at all!!! Thats just my opinion...my friends were happy enough but defainatly wouldn't be for me.
