CockneyMafia
I have 2 very expensive (and large) sofas which I bought from Habitat about 3 years ago. They are from the Scala modular range, and are covered in a sort of finely brushed suede. The sofa has put up with a lot of punishment over the years, and frankly looks worn out, dirty and jaded. It also has a hot rock burn in it. Does anyone know anything about upholstery? Does it cost a lot to reupholster a sofa? (I know thats a vague and leading question) Is it easy? Are there any good professional cleaning companies out there? Any advice would be great.

Strix
unfortunately, recovering sofas has become almost not worth doing. try http://www.yell.com and get a couple of quotes, but I'm still dithering over what to do about this Parker Knoll (not one of those style) I'm sitting on
nanrobbo
I don't know the price of upholstery material, but it really isn't so hard to re-cover. I've done it a number of times for myself and friends. First of all you need a sewing machine and to know how to use it. The furniture must have a good wooden frame, (You should be able to see this underneath) I tried using a staple gun but found in the end blue tacks and a small hammer worked better for me. You can either cover the original or strip it, I found stripping gave me a pattern to follow. If you want to give it a go I'll answer any queries to the best of my knowledge. Another alternative would be to try a good upholstery cleaner- there must be some about- must be cheaper than a new lounge. Maybe the company that made the lounge could supply a name?
