simondjuk
Ive been recently getting emails to my Yahoo account from 2 banks asking me to update my account details. Not sure if I can mention their names so ive described them Most of them are coming from the 'bank with the black horse' - ok I thought but the problem is i dont have an account with them and never have. Im now getting them from a building society (name sounds like it covers the whole country) which I do have an account with. I have not done anything, thought id get some responses from you fellow forumers for any advice.

JoeP
They're phishing mails. Just ignore them - don't complain to the senders about them, just bin 'em.
medusa
If you really feel that you need to do something with them, why not forward them to the bank that they claim to come from? All of the banks have email addresses (usually available at their websites) specifically for reporting phishing or scams in their name. That way you're sure that they've got as much information as possible about the people who are sending these emails. You can then delete the emails and rest safe assured that if your bank was to contact you they would use your name in the email, and wouldn't ask for your details online. If in any doubt as to whether the email is for real never, ever click on links in these emails. If your bank need more information from you they would be more than happy for you to log into their website independently and avoid the risk of you clicking a link to a scam. Till Man
Between these emails, the one offering me various pills, the ones asking me for my ebay details, and the ones from Nigerian people in some plight or other, I bet I get over 100 mails a week. They are all either spam or scams. Bin them all, or better still get a spam filter that will do it for you.

Grandad.Malky
Another scam to beware of is Ebay or Paypal asking you to update your account, don’t even open them, press delete.
Grandad.Malky
Nidge I average 52.53 spam mails a day - peak 29/8/06 162!!! Steve The advice I received is don’t open any, if you open them this sends a message that your email address is active and you will get even more, I have got mine down to less than six a day.
