Daniela
The fashion industry have finally come to light that their models may be too thin (20 years after the general public realised this fact)... ...but is this is real scare that will change the image of designers and models for good or just another story that will be forgotten about in a week? What are your views on this inevitable crisis linked to people as young as 12 developing anorexia and other eating disorders to try and fit into the public image? nick2
I started a thread about this last week, it got chucked into the "trivia" section as it's not "serious"
Strix
the fashion industry doesn't cause anorexia kids growing up in a less secure environment with unreasonable pressures pressed up on them, by parents who are too wrapped up in their own lives to bother with their kids problems is the root cause of teenage anorexia
Daniela
Not serious? People are being diagnosed with having eating disorders at shockingly young ages, and the number of men and women having to seek treatment is frightening! amandakm
i have three daughters, the eldest (17) is almost six feet tall, blonde, blue-eyes, gorgeous in fact, she is a size 12, she is on a diet. The middle girl is small boned, looks a bit like Audrey Hepburn, huge brown eyes and bone structure, she has just lost a stone, now a size 8. The youngest (11) used to play football, netball, do cross country etc two weeks into secondary school she's dreading P.E as her thighs wobble when she runs!!!!!!!!. Since having my girls i have either been at home or worked around the school hours/holidays. I've done everything i can to promote healthy female images, his issue makes me really cross. Snook
I don't think catwalk models have that much impact on young men and women, instead why not look at singers and film stars for who is causing women and girls to feel they need to slim. hmr44
Did anybody hear about that girl, I think she was about 15, and it was her dream to do catwalk modelling. She finally got asked to do it for a really good show and she dieted so much that she collapsed and died whilst walking to the dressing room from the catwalk
