Brentos2004
I read in the star yesterday that Sheffield city council are complaining that to many people are refusing to pay the on the spot fines for littering in the city centre. Personally I agree that littering should be stopped as it makes the city a nicer place to go but I also think that some of the things they issue fines for are stupid. Anyway how can people be expected to put rubbish in bins when they look like this http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m126/brentos2004/bin.jpg And thats one of many ive seen in the city centre in the last few days. purdyamos
They could turn the public toilets down the stairs at the town hall into a dungeon for miscreants. Then tip all the rubbish down the stairs at them.

okka north
Perhaps, if the street cleaners didn't spend so much time around the sarnie van on the moor on their numerous tea breaks in the morning, more bins would be emptied...
Gadgetgirl
i think its really funny that the council are going to have to spend money pursuiting non-payers through the courts; legal nightmare as long as the accused is willing to contest it....as the burden of proof is with the council employee
Brentos2004
They have already said openly that theres no way they will win in court because as gadgetgirl said the proof lies with the council worker so its basically your word against theres. Complete waste of cash !!
Gadgetgirl
will not stop the council trying....I blame the councillors myself. If they had an ounce of sense they'd realise this and advise their employees accordingly.
Green Web
Were I live its full of Litter & Fly Tipping at the perimeter at the rear gardens of the houses and it must cost the Council a fortune to clean up! Worst thing about it is most of the houses are Council Rented and if youre a council tenant you can have up to 10 bulky items at once removed for Free! By simply calling Street Force on 0114 2734567 & leave your rent ref No. So I think the council has got a right to moan about people not paying Litter Fines. Dont You?
