shoeshine
Did you revel in the comedy of the Fawlty Towers series? The programme with John Cleese has been in the news today. The hotel it was based on in Torquay has had a £1m refit, and "Sybil" was there. I loved the programme. Did you? Full Story Here
tess667
Thanks for that Shoeshine I too used to love Fawlty Towers especially the "Basil the rat" episode
Rich
Ah yes Fawlty Towers, I was PMSL at the "The Germans" episode! John Cleese should be Knighted IMO for his services to British comedy, sod all these one hit wonders who get made up for doing sweet FA.
happyhippy
The greatest 12 half hours of comedy ever, but I thought the outside shots of the hotel were done in the Home Counties?
Ousetunes
Yes. But bare in mind the council wanted to demolish the building and build, yes you guessed right 'luxury apartments' on the site. Shows that councils simply don't understand these things. 'A satisfied customer. Maybe we should have him stuffed!'

I agree Rich, Well overdue. We have all the DVD's and Still laugh at every episode. My favourite is when there is a physciatrist staying in the hotel. Ousetunes
My favourite is the Mrs Richards episode where she complains about the view from her room. 'That, Madam, is Torquay.' 'Well, it's not good enough!'
BasilRathbon
The first - and possibly only - comedy that knew when to stop. Such a shame that John Cleese got into psychoanalysis afterwards and stopped being funny.
