Pook
I went to town with my friends on SAturday night to celebrate my birthday. What greeted me? Outside the forum a bloke throwing up near the queue for the cash machine. Walking down division street, some lad shoulder barges me, then tried to start a fight. I've never had a fight in my life, nor wish to have one. What the hell is going on? i know the students are back, but it's not normally like this. NPB!
Probably just unlucky Pook, I've yet to encounter any real trouble in Town, but obviously it does go on. I nearly got into some in Chapeltown (not my fault) and I was sober lol

Thunzi
I'd say you were unfortunate as well. Someone attempting to start a fight with you for no reason is always terribly daunting, especially as they've normally got their mates as backup. Never happened to me in Sheffield but it did in Newcastle Under Lyme. Someone decided I'd scared a girl away he was harassing (he was very drunk) so walked up and punched me in the face. After not knocking me down he went and hid behind all his mates who were desperate for it all to kick off. I just went in the pub, would have been totally pointless giving him one back, though it may have made me feel better. I've only ever seen one random act of violence in Sheffield and that was when someone opened a champagne bottle that sprayed everywhere. Everyone was fine about it apart from one guy who went and dropped a nut on the sprayer. Just got to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. gularscute
West Street used to be OK about ten years ago, there were still some places left with character, now it's like a scene from Taxi Driver. I saw a woman having a dump near the Tesco cash machines about 10pm on Friday a few weeks ago. Charming, huh?

Thunzi
Are you from N-U-L? Nope, Sheffield born and bred. I worked down in Stoke for 2 years (over a 3 year period). Newcastle is a much better night out though, our accommodation was a mansion in Trentham so it was actually easier to get to Newcastle anyway. The incident didn't tar my experience of Newcastle in anyway, still a nice place to go out for a drink (and curry). Unfortunately idiots are everywhere and I was just the unfortunate one to come across him that night.
Lester_Bigot
Sheffield nightlife has gone down the tube, i do think. West Street, is a perfect example, went into what used to be Beehive, and they were playing KYLIE MINOQUE !!!! There also seems to be lots of 80's bars, that play nothing but WHAM and MADNESS!!!! For god sake, its 2006 not 1982. I'm sure some people who were up town were not even born in 1982, of you must play 80's stuff, why not be different, how about some Smiths, or some house/dance music from the late 80's.
