S2 covers such a big area, its impossible to say whether you should 'keep your head down' or not. Hyde park flats, Manor top, wybourn, arbourthorne, bits of Heeley, Norfolk Park and Lowfield/Bramall Lane/London Road area are all S2, some bits a lot dodgier than others.

The bottom of London Road is in S11, supposedly a posh postcode, but that part of town is a bit rough.

I live in S2 but I think its the opposite end to where you're talking about - Near Olive Grove bus depot/big B&Q...

Its OK for one of the cheaper areas of Sheffield, friendly neighbours etc but its definitely got a very different atmosphere compared to say Crookes.

S2 covers miles of land. I reckon Lowfields/London Rd/Bramall Lane & surrounding areas are mighty fine places to live in. It's lively, multi-cultural, has decent pubs & restaurants...

I am curious of its bad reputation and can't help to have a look. I got off the tram at Manor Top and walked to Queen Mary Road and then wandered around the area sorrounded by Queen's Mary road. Everything looks alright. I saw little african or asian looking people. People walking on the street with their babies and talk to each other. Loads of kids walking around with school uniforms. It is a typical british community to me. I can't understand why it is described so bloody though I still dare not to buy a house there.

The notorious S2? Come on it's hardly the Bronx or Compton!

Anywhere in Sheffield could be a potential danger if the wrong person happens to be about. Sure, some areas are more dangerous than others but we're hardly living in the slums and ghetto's of Rio or Mexico City
